This month kicks off the 11th Annual Enviro-Fair at Del Mar Fairgrounds. Highlighting the event is an Eco-Fashion show that will feature clothing and accessory designs by local designers who use sustainable and environmentally friendly materials. Mariella Coffin was approached to be the shows stylist after rave reviews of her work in other eco-fashion shows she participated in such as Go Green Expo in Los Angeles Convention Center, interviews with green magazines and TV news channels in Los Angeles. Hailing from Peru, she now lives in San Diego with her family. Mariella began designing environmentally responsible jewelry four years ago. Prior to jewelry design she was an architect, but decided to switch gears when her daughter was born. Of her decision to start a new career path, "I wanted to create a product that would somehow tie my background as an architect, ancient traditions from South America and unusual natural resources unique to certain communities in this region. But I also wanted to help the communities I would work with along the way by providing an alternative source of income."
Her designs include non-traditional organic materials such as animal horn, vegetable fibers and gourds, which she combines with recycled sterling silver and gold to create one-of-a kind, 100% green fine jewelry. The jewelry is not mass produced, she works directly with local artisans in small communities across South America who manufacture diverse components for her designs using the arts they have learned and maintained through generations. Mariella's business keeps their traditions and natural areas alive.
When not designing, Mariella participates in several fundraisers and charity events, donating an average 30% of her sales. She also volunteers and styles other eco-fashion shows in the San Diego area. http://mariellacoffincollection.shutterfly.com/

I'd like to stop talking about marketing and get down to brass! I just moved back to San Diego, after being 2000 miles away for the last 2 years. It feels incredible to be back in the warmth again, breathing the fresh ocean air where everything just seems to look, taste, smell and feel better!
So now that I'm back, I'll put some energy into the website and get it rolling along. Since March we've had about 45 people sign up here. Not a lot, but the they have been coming, dipping their toes, and I certainly appreciate their effort to see what this is all about.
I think I owe our current members something, and come January, you'll see something. And hopefully gain some new company. Stay tuned!

Sometime soon, I need to do some marketing. I think the value in mysandiegolife.com - this social platform - isn't so much in just creating another personal profile page, besides your likely already existing myspace or facebook page, but the opportunity to connect with other people in San Diego.
Here we can create groups of people with similar interests (see the existing Jazz and Surfing groups - ya, I know, a little thin so far...). And the forums are a great way to discuss topics related to life in San Diego.
We need a good dose of marketing to jumpstart things. I think a solid month doing nothing but promoting mysandiegolife.com should help. But where oh where is that month??

But I don't have a real good blog entry right about now...but I just have to see how this shows up!
Yours truly,
Hi San Diego!
By now, you've noticed changes with the mysandiegolife.com home page. We are making some serious changes (ya, we're serious!) to the website. We're switching gears, moving forward, giving the people what they want.
We are very (repeat, very) early in our makeover. In the meantime, please feel free to join in and participate in our beta testing.
