Former San Diego State punter Matt Araiza signing with Kansas Metropolis Chiefs

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Former San Diego State punter Matt Araiza has signed a contract with the Kansas Metropolis Chiefs, the staff introduced on X.

ESPN NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler each posted on X Thursday afternoon saying {that a} supply confirmed to them Araiza is signing with the back-to-back Tremendous Bowl champs.

In a follow-up publish, Schefter shared a tweet from JL Sports activities, the sports activities company representing Araiza, that included a press release from the punter.

Following a powerful school profession through which he earned the nickname “Punt God,” Araiza was initially drafted by the Buffalo Payments in 2022. He was launched from the staff after a lawsuit was filed accusing him and two SDSU teammates of gang raping a 17-year-old woman at a celebration in Oct. 2021.

In Dec. 2022, the San Diego County District Legal professional’s Workplace introduced no prison expenses could be filed towards Araiza for the alleged rape, stating “Finally, prosecutors decided it’s clear the proof doesn’t help the submitting of prison expenses and there’s no path to a possible prison conviction.”

By Dec. 2023, the lawsuit that first laid out the rape allegations towards Araiza was dropped, and no cash exchanged palms as a part of the settlement, in accordance with Araiza’s attorneys. As a part of the settlement, Araiza withdrew the defamation lawsuit he had filed towards Jane Doe.

“The case is over, and Matt has prevailed. He now has the total intention of returning to the NFL in hopes of resuming a profitable punting profession,” his attorneys stated when the lawsuit was dropped.
